Hey dudes and dudettes! Things have been rough lately being in the office almost constantly running around and doing errands, but it is a blessing to serve around President so much. I do enjoy it and I am trying to see it as just another phase of my mission helping me prepare for serving others and to learn patience and obedience to whatever I am asked.
We did have a sweet miracle on Thursday. That lady we taught at the temple was baptized! It was cool, of course she is not our investigator but we were invited to the baptism and Elder Robinson baptized her, and I was asked by the Sister Missionaries (I think..?) to give the talk on both Baptism and the Holy Ghost. It was a cool experience, I really felt the Spirit. After the baptismal service Abby (the lady who was baptized and totally prepared to become a member of the church) shook my hand and said "Thank you for your sermon, your speech, up there, I wouldn't have had anyone else do it". It was honestly one of the greatest compliments I have ever received on my mission! Probably because it was so sincere. So that was a cool experience. Right now the work is slow but hopefully will pick up as we get more things done. I am grateful to serve with Elder Robinson, he has had some hard times on his mission so far and it is a cool blessing to serve with him despite the things that he has gone through. He is an awesome missionary! I am doing well. I get stressed pretty good always thinking I need to be perfect and stuff so that's one thing I need to really work on! Otherwise not a whole lot to report on! Transfers are next week and I'm thinking Elder Robinson might be leaving. I'm not entirely sure but I think the Lord will keep me here for awhile; there's nothing wrong with that, the Lord is just making use of my talents and abilities and I know I can find success and spiritual growth here!
So we finally move out on Monday! I am really excited! Unfortunately I don't have any really fun experiences to share today.. But I love and miss you all! Keep working with the Missionaries! Look at every part of your life just as another test, another level, another time to grow and change and learn! It's so cool how missions really are setup as a "miniature life" each transfer brings new change and obstacles and trails and a lot of growth. I remember as I'm sure you all do too, that my last area, Downtown Columbia, was a trial for me. I found myself peddling up infinite hills thinking to myself, "..how can I tell president that this area is almost too difficult for me..?" And then I eventually realized that I was there for a reason, whether I knew it or not and I was where the Lord wanted me, for whatever reason that was. He handed me trails and obstacles He expected me to overcome so that He could help me move to the next part of my life, the next phase of my mission, where I would no doubt face again, trials and obstacles that the Lord expects me to overcome. So just remember that, when times in your life are just stinking hard, don't complain.. Ask the Lord why (knowing before hand He has a reason) and He will let you know in that prayer specifically why you are facing that specific challenge and will at that moment begin to move you to the next level, the next challenge and phase of your life. There is a reason for everything and for every feeling we have and man, we really just don't understand it. I always remember my Book of Mormon teacher at BYU who wrote "The Ode to Nephi and Mormon" saying:
"I don't know
But I don't need to know
Because I know God knows
And that's all I need to know"
Now that shouldn't be a "crutch" where we say that we will just be miserable and face our trials because the Lord knows whats going on.. but we must trust in the Lord. He knew all along I would be an office Elder and I half-way expected it too. But it doesn't mean anything other than, "One day I will understand what my Savior understood in order for me to continue my Eternal Progression in God's kingdom here on the earth".
I know the Gospel is true and I love it! I love and miss you all!

Dad
Tell him I said thanks! I wont let my new shoes go to waste!
I love you! Stay strong! Be happy! Always remember what President Hinckly said!
“Things will work out. Keep trying. Be believing. Be happy. Don’t get discouraged. Things will work out.”
I often think of this scripture as I go about the work of the Lord..
Alma 56
47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
I know that there is more to you mom than anyone else in the family. I know that you are the Heart and Soul of the family and I love you for all that you have ever done for me, and continue to do for me each and everyday and in each and every prayer!
Mother I LOVE YOU!
Please take care of Dad as much as he needs!! I love ya! whether or not Dad needs to go to the hospital i suppose is important but at the same time it can never hurt to go anyway! Please get help or do anything you can! Let him know i love him and miss him and im so sorry! I know the Lord will bless him!!

A Sweet Blessing Last Night!
Hey I thought I would share a cool experience I had last night!
After Elder Robinson and I came in for the night I was thinking a lot about my mission and where I was at. I had asked President McConkie a few days ago how I could be a better missionary, and of course I knew the answer already, I kinda just wanted to talk to him. The answer of course to work hard, to study the scripture, to pray. And actually he said to be happy! So that was cool. Anyway as I was thinking about it last night I felt that, after 9 months, I wasn't really where I wanted to be as a missionary! Laying in bed having already said my prayer I talked with Elder Robinson about it and he said he felt the same about his mission but also assumes that most missionaries feel the same. So I just kept thinking about it and stuff. I then realized I really wanted to talk to my Heavenly Father about it.. As I laid there and began to pray I thought.. I should probably kneel if I really want to pray about it. I then felt kinda weird getting out of bed to kneel (seeing as how Elder Robinson already saw me say my personal prayer) but then a scripture came to mind "the devil teacheth not a man to pray". So even if it was weird I got out of bed and began to pray on my knees.. It was a wonderful experience as I shared with my Father in Heaven my thoughts and understandings. I then posed my question, "How can I be a better missionary?".. when almost mid my asking the question the thought came to my mind, "Serve Elder Robinson".. I then brought that before my Heavenly Father and asked if that was from Him and what He wanted me to do, almost instantly in that question as well i received a "Yes".. then combining both answers I asked God for a confirmation on those two answers and again almost instantly, this time, a scripture came to mind from the book of Moroni chapter 10 I believe, saying "..all things that inviteth to do good come from God.." It was an amazing spiritual experience. While praying I pondered on it and realized as a missionary I invite people everyday just about to ask God if what we share is true and promise them they can know and receive an answer to their prayers.. I then realized that i rarely take advantage of such blessings! Sure I pray and ask for things, but it is not often I ask questions with an expectation of an answer as I pray.
I now have a firmer and confirmed testimony of the power of prayer and can better apply that to my investigators. It was a sweet experience and I am very grateful for it and I say those things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

A Lesson at the Temple!
I did fail to mention two amazing miracles we have had this past week! One of which took place at the temple.
Elder Robinson and I were invited to teach a wonderful Lady named Abby at the temple, with two other Elders and two Sisters. We arrived at the temple and walked the temple grounds with her and then went inside to the waiting room. All six missionaries bore testimony as we taught. Now, Abby has been an investigator since we have been out on our missions. She was taught her first lesson 9 months ago by my companion, Elder Robinson (this is why we were invited). Also it was the first lesson Elder Robinson ever taught (since we came out together from the MTC, so that was cool). The Lord prepared the way and provided two awesome members to be at the temple who ended up baring amazing testimony and encouraged her forward to be baptized. At the end of our lesson in the temple Abby finally accepted a baptismal date for June 6th! It was an amazing experience! She truly has the countenance of Jesus Christ upon her as we learn about in Alma 5.
Another miracle is that we have been praying for miracles and also that we might be an answer to someones prayers who has been prepared. This was Sister Geiger. An amazing lady we met simply tracting and totally unexpected. She didn't listen 100% during the lesson we had with her, but she recognized us as an answer to her prayers and at the end of the lesson she said some amazing things about this experience we had just had with her. The spirit was SO strong! She is coming to church this Sunday! It was so cool. She said in her prayer that she had been looking for a church for about a month now and that before we came by somebody else had come by and invited her to their church. Truly she is now being given the opportunity to determine which of the two is truly the Lord's one true church!
It is my testimony that miracles do happen today! If not, then God would cease to be God! I know that if we pray fervently and steadfastly for blessings and even specifically miracles the Lord will bless us even with those specific miracles we pray for! I say that in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.ayers who has been prepared. This was Sister Geiger. An amazing lady we met simply tracting and totally unexpected. HEEEEEEEY!
Well I hope everything's alright, sadly I didn't get any emails from anyone? Today has been a messed up day kinda. When we got to the office this morning president needed us to work on something so we did, then we left to some appointments, both of which fell through unfortunately. Time is really short today and we have stuff that we need to do. I am really enjoying the work here, though it is hard at times. Stressful and from a missionary prospective we don't get to go out and work as much as we would like since we are in the office worrying about and doing other things. And I just remembered something we really need to do. Along with me "re-imaging" this computer. Yeah, Mom I now know all about "re-imaging"! And it isn't really a fun process but its not that difficult at the same time, just time consuming. There was a virus and we had to re-image like 4 computers and this is the last one! The work is slow because we have been busy in the office this past week. I really enjoy serving with Elder Robinson. He is hard working and fun to serve with really. It's pretty awesome to serve around President McConkie so being an office Elder isn't a bad thing and we actually have a lot of prospective baptisms coming up so that's cool! Tonight we are going to go eat at the Galloway's; that will be cool they were the family of 3 that got baptized when I got here. Well I love you all and miss ya! I hope everything is going well and stuff! The work of the Lord is always going forward and I am so grateful to be apart of it!
love ya all!

Hey Hey!
Hello! Hope everyone is doing well! Things are going great here.. The work is slow but we are working hard. We are looking for at least 3 more people this month who the Lord has prepared and I am excited to find them. Everything else is going good though. I'm glad to hear that Becca is doing good and hope everything continues to go well. I'm pretty tired right now and don't feel that great.. I think I just need something to eat. I cant really think of anything else to say today! Not a whole lot to really "report on". Simply I am tired and ready to just start teaching some lessons! One of the young men in our ward we are working with is not a member but comes to church all the time. We are working with him and really hope that he will understand the importance of baptism. This transfer is going by fast, just like they always do! Welp, the work goes on as always and I am trying to be better everyday! I love and miss you all! Oh and it was way awesome to hear and to talk with you all!
-Elder McMurry
I'll be in the office for a few more hours today, SO if anyone wants to write me they can (though i cant respond right away)! love y'all!

ANOTHER WEEK!
Well I don't really know what to write about.. This area is certainly pretty fun. It's difficult to be apart of two wards, but Elder Robinson and I are doing our best to work with everyone and have some good ideas of how we want to do that. We have been making changes to how "office elders" work and are probably working much harder than any office Elders ever have before.. at least in awhile perhaps. We get out and go to work at 12:00 everyday if possible, unless president wants us to do other things. We are basically in charge of ordering media supplies and sending out media referrals to the missionaries in the rest of the mission. And aside from that.. we just do whatever jobs President McConkie wants us to do.
Well, I am moving again! Kinda annoying and tiring but we are getting a new apartment, ours is currently falling apart and has an attic full of mold. It's gross. But we are planning on moving out today, so hopefully that goes well.
The family that got baptized last weekend is amazing! I love that family, they are so elect and were so prepared for the Gospel! Members are the single most important part in missionary work! So mom and dad you better fellowship those new members! Love them, call them, serve them, have fun with them! Teach them, testify to them.. do everything possible in your power to take care of them! OH! And remember what President Hunter said!
"No member should EVER be heard to say, '..the missionaries baptized them before they were ready..'"
The members need to know that missionaries only baptize people who keep commitments and understand why they are getting baptized. So as I've heard President McConkie say, new members are to be treated and cared for just like new born babies.. and yeah I totally agree.. Now! That's not to say that sometimes people do get baptized with a very small knowledge and understanding but the missionaries ARE AWARE of that when that happens. And another Elder here in the mission made a good point about that.. "pre-mature babies need even more attention and care".. And yes sometimes people just go inactive right away despite all efforts from the members and the missionaries; things like this happen when the recent converts neglect their own testimony.. (stop praying, stop reading, stop caring) and its really no fault of anyone else. It does happen.
Anyway, the work is slowly taking off here, but we are going to do our best to get it really going! One of our biggest goals is to work with the members! I hope everyone is well! I'm doing pretty good myself thanks! I miss you all! Keeping doing cool and good things. If you have any questions or things let me know! And remember what President Hinckley said:
“Things will work out. Keep trying. Be believing. Be happy. Don’t get discouraged.
Things will work out.”
Oh cool story! So last transfer when I was with Elder McRae, we found this cool lady named Kelly, that we taught about 2-3 times I think, and anyway she was really cool, but was going to leave the area and go to school so we were bummed but asked her if it would be alright if the missionaries up there contacted her and she was alright with that. Anyway that was probably about 7 weeks ago.. about two days ago, I decided to call up Elder Jacobson (way cool missionary) and ask him if things ever went anywhere with Kelly (he was one of the missionaries in the area who would teach her if they could get a hold of each other). And he said, "Oh actually things went good with her and shes getting baptized on Saturday." Man I was SO excited to hear that it was an awesome blessing to hear that, so tonight is her baptism! I remember when I first called Elder Jacobson to give him her info, I told him "Okay, Elder you have to see her, she is totally awesome and she will get baptized".. and the other day when I found this out I had to thank him for being such an awesome missionary, heh. So that was a cool blessing! But THEN I got a call from someone who said, "Hello.. yeah do you guys teach out in Columbia?.. and this guy was talking weird but I said yes, and then He said, "Let me ask you a question.. Is Nephi, Jesus Christ's brother?" and I totally knew who it was so I said, "Only if this is Brother Newkirk!".. and it was, it was probably more funny to me, but that would be David, my first Baptism! He just wanted to call and see how I was doing and told me he wanted to come visit me. So that was an awesome blessing.. and "what more added to my joy" was that I had found out about a week ago, that one of my other baptisms is going to go on a mission! Those were some awesome tender mercies of the Lord right there!
I really love the Gospel and know that what we teach is true! I am so grateful that I know that, and that I know it independent of any man or woman, independent of the internet or of actual proof and evidence or what anyone anywhere has ever told me. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true because God himself told me! What a great blessing prayer is! I knew by the power of the Holy Ghost at age 12 that the church we represent is Christ's true church, and at the age of 16 that the Book of Mormon was indeed a true record of God! I love my mission, I am hardly a great missionary but all I want to do is to find, teach and baptize! This work is literally impossible by means of any man. No man can do this work. I know that this work is only possibly by means of the Holy Ghost. I testify of these things, that I do know that they are true! In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
LOVE YOU ALL!
MOTHER's DAY!
