From Bishop Jarnagin

Elder McMurry,

Please see below, so you can tell what we’ve been up to lately. Pretty much nothing exciting-nothing like being able to teach the Gospel all the time like you’re doing.

I also wanted to respond to your prior e-mail, about prophecies re. the South. Elder Featherstone was the General Authority over the South when I served in Tennessee, back in good old 1982-83. I met him a couple of times, and he is an awesome servant of the Lord. He also was Bro. Morel’s Mission President in San Antonio, TX, and he had some wonderful experiences while he served under his tutelage. I served in Tennessee when the Atlanta, GA temple was dedicated, and that was the closest temple for our Saints at the time. We noticed strong resistance to the work during the months leading up to the Temple dedication, and Elder Featherstone then told us of the quote by one of the earlier Prophets (Brigham Young): “When a temple is announced, all the bells in hell begin to ring”.

Sounds like you’re doing a great work down there and I wish the Lord’s choicest blessings upon you as you continue to devote and consecrate yourself in His service.

I do plan to share that e-mail you sent me with one of our YM who is now an Elder. He doesn’t plan to serve a mission, but I think he may be having a change of heart, and the e-mail you sent about how awesome missionary work is, how much you love it, etc. will hopefully have a big impact on him as he works through the “decision” process.

Take care brother,

ddj
